Kamaria Warren was simply a young girl trying to find party invitations at the age of seven. Kamaria, a young proud black girl, wanted to feel seen and heard as she threw a party for her birthday. Kamaria and her mother, Shaunice Sasser, wanted to find representation for brown and black girls.
They began with party supplies, stationaries, and accessories, all representing brown and black girls. Kamara’s mother is a graphic designer and it made it super easy to create the designs and patterns for their stationery.
because of their uniqueness they were able to make a difference within the brown and black girl community. while making a difference they were also making a profit while doing so. Kamaria, who is now 13, sells her products on shopify, Faire marketplace, wholesale, and at local events as well. she is selling her products into the thousands each and every year. Warren said that she was inspired by seeing other girls wearing her products and seeing them proud of who they are.
they created their small business with a sense of small town care and even have their own affirmative message each and every month.
it is great to see young people being who they truly are and not falling into the social norms of fitting in with the crowd and assimilating. Warren stood up for what she believed in and fought to make her beliefs true. Kamaria and her mother fought with greatness to achieve their goals, and that is truly inspiring.
