Affiong Williams: ReelFruit

Affiong Williams is a young African woman from the country Nigeria. She has become and inspiration to me in many ways after reading the article about her. Her company is called ReelFruit. She saw the demand for fresh, natural, quality foods and jumped right in. Nigeria’s climate is well apt to grow some very delicious fruits. Affiong with ReelFruit started drying the fruits and selling them. The thing that inspired me the most is her quote, “I hope to be on the cover of FORBES AFRICA in five years’ time.” What a bold statement!

Mubarak Muyika

Mubarak Muyika is a young African native of Kenya with the young age of twenty years. This man had a rough upbringing as he became an orphan when he was only ten years old. Despite his challenging start, he became very tech savvy and started thinking up products and companies. His first launch was a company named Hypecentury Technologies. This company was a web hosting company where people can create their websites. Later on in his life, he was offered to attend Harvard University with a scholarship but turned it down. This man knew what he wanted, and he didn’t see it in an esteemed college. He wanted to be an entrepreneur. After selling his first company for a pretty penny, he went on to his next venture, Zagace Limited. This company contains the format “Zag apps” which is comprised of tools to help companies manage accounting, payroll, stock management and more. Mubarak Muyika took a considerable risk of losing a very easy and certainly successful life had he gone to Harvard, and chose to pursue his passion of Entrepreneurship.

Clothe Your Neighbor As Yourself

Clothe Your Neighbor As Yourself is a nonprofit clothing line that was started in 2013 by James Barnett with the sole intention of providing for others. The whole idea is to literally clothe your neighbor as yourself. They tackle this by taking all the profits and either buying a uniform for a child to attend school or clothes for a man to obtain a job. This is a very heartfelt nonprofit and it is rooted in Christ.

One of my favorite things about the company is that the owner, James Barnett, prior to starting the company lived homeless intentionally, for two years. He grew up in a church-going family and grew a distaste for how some christians were living their lives. This drove him to sell everything he owned and live homeless. While he was living this life, he saw the great need firsthand that the other homeless people experienced. This then drove him to start his company Clothe Your Neighbor As Yourself.

Cameron Johnson

In preparation for this post, I began to search the web in hopes of finding some brilliant mid-twenties mind that sparked a new enterprise that we are all familiar with. BUT I found something better than an already super successful mid-twenties entrepreneur. I found the root of that mid-twenties entrepreneur in a young man named Cameron Johnson. This 12-year-old started a business of making cards for holidays and ended up pulling in profits in the thousand dollar range. Once he got money, he bought his sister’s doll collection from her and sold it for 10 times of what he bought it off her. This sparked a plug and he went to the manufacturer, started buying from them and was making even more money selling them. These profits kept getting larger as he got older. Now 15 years old, he has companies that bring in more than $400,000 a month.
