Paige Doherty and Joshua Schlisserman

Paige Doherty and Joshua Schlisserman are the co-founders of a start-up company called Behind Genius Ventures. Paige is only twenty-three years old and Joshua is only twenty-four years old. This company is dealing with venture capital. This passion and drive for venture capital started for Paige Doherty after authoring a kids’ book for adults explaining the contents of venture capital called Seed to Harvest. Paige Doherty and Joshua Schlisserman cofounded Behind Genius Capital in March 2021. The duo together made twelve fundamental, core investments so far into what they call the “future of work” and “future of play” companies which deployed one million and two hundred thousand dollars. They were backed by limited partners from other capital ventures like Bain Capital Ventures, Tribe Capital, and Bonfire Ventures, as well as partners from Andreessen Horowitz, which is a popular capital venture firm in Silicon Valley that helps fast-forward companies like Apple. Other executives too from the likes of Figma, Stripe, and Webflow. The creators of a beginner’s guide to angel investing. Doherty says their mission is “to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of venture investors.” Doherty and Schlisserman’s goal was to create a unique and different venture capital firm that was different from other venture capital firms. Doherty’s goal is “…to make the venture more transparent. I want more people to feel welcome here.” Doherty believes that the current system of venture capital firms is not transparent and not straightforward with their clients. Later on, Doherty also learned that this behavior was very common in the capital venture industry culture. Doherty found an opportunity in the capital venture industry where no one else was heading towards and she exploited that missing need in the capital venture world. Doherty and Schlisserman made the process more efficient resulting in saving time with their own capital venture and saving their clients’ time too.

Cole Mason – Cofounder of Pearpop

Cole Mason is a twenty-five-year-old entrepreneur who cofounded a Social media app called Pearpop. This app and website are an auction site. This site allows social media users to bid for collaborations with top talent entertainers like Snoop Dogg. Some activities you can purchase on this site would be, for example, a Snoop Dogg comment on TikTok, which costs two hundred and fifty dollars. Another example would be to pay the DJ Marshmellow twenty-five thousand dollars for a video. This allows people to promote their social media accounts through celebrities. Users on social media and celebrities are now closer together virtually than ever before. This creates a cool dynamic that allows the average person to interact with celebrities online.

Cole Mason was a former fashion model before taking on the Pearpop entrepreneurial endeavor. The initial concept for Pearpop came out when Cole Mason realized an obvious gap within the space, as no marketplace existed for creators of all sizes to monetize their platforms on social media through simple collaborations that are mutually beneficial for all parties utilizing the Pearpop app. He built Pearpop as the social capital marketplace that helps creators grow, earn, and promote across all platforms. Cole Mason noticed a move away from platform-driven awareness and is trending towards independent promotion and people-driven influence. Cole Mason created a completely new market in which many celebrities are investing their money rapidly. These celebrity investors include Amy Schumer, Diddy, and Kevin Hart. Cole Mason believes that all creators on social media should be able to monetize their content, whether they have one hundred followers or one hundred million followers.  Now, all people on many social media apps can monetize their content. You no longer need to be a celebrity to promote your content on social media! Pearpop is now valued at over $300 million dollars today.

Blog #3 Levi Conlow and Robert Deziel

Levi Conlow and Robert Deziel are partners in crime in the entrepreneurial world. They are both the cofounders of Lectric eBikes. Levi Conlow was the designer of the bikes, and Robert Deziel was the idea maker. Levi Conlow, being the salesman he is, convinced his father to invest in his company with his father’s retirement savings. The amount given was fifty thousand dollars to make an affordable electric bicycle he designed. His first model was unsuccessful due to factors like speed and range, which he underestimated. He had to change course to be successful and not disappoint his father. His new idea was to model for the Lectric company, which makes electric scooters and bicycles. He created Lectric’s one thousand-dollar XP model when, at the time, the cheapest model of electric bikes was two thousand dollars. He utilized his skill set to create a cheaper product with the same quality that Lectric likes for their products. He created a minimal-value product. He also applied one of the modes of innovation, which is the adaption mode. His first idea of creating a product from scratch did not work, so he adapted his skill set to another field of improving a product. He also utilized one of the zones of innovation, which is product. He improved the product by keeping the quality high but reduced the costs by fifty percent. This price reduction could potentially find a new audience of customers who could not afford the typical two thousand-dollar models. Since 2019, when Levi created the XP model bike, Conlow has sold more than one hundred thousand bikes, and his company is on pace to make eighty-five million dollars in revenue this year. This story ended happily as Conlow could repay his father’s retirement savings and more.

Other foods that he makes are Macaroon Brownies, pumpkin Spice Babka, and roasted tomato brisket with many more delicious recipes in his cookbook   Jake knew that the current Jewish cooking market was boring and bland and knew that so much more could be made out of these delicious Jewish customary foods.  Jake Cohen has found a unique niche where there wasn’t much exciting entrepreneurial activity due to a lot of dormancy in this particular market so he decided to take advantage of this opportunity and has successfully marketed his ideas through social media and made appearances on some popular TV shows to become a successful cook influencer online. After publishing his first cookbook, he went on popular TV shows like Good Morning America, Live with Kelly and Ryan, and the Food Network. There are also a lot of articles written about him in the Wall Street Journal and Forbes. Through TikTok and Instagram, he has made short videos on some of his recipes, which have reached over two million people. His food is so good that even Britney Spears said, “the coolest thing I’ve ever seen,” and said, “It’s inspired me to take on a new passion in the cooking field!” Jake reconciles an ancient traditions with our modern times, his recipes become a celebration of a colorful and vibrant Jewish history. He managed to combine Jewish food traditions with more modern American plates to appeal to his customers.
