Franktuary

 Franktuary

“One Frank at a Time, One Relationship at a Time, One Dollar at a Time.”

Founders:

The Founders, Megan Lindsey, and Tim Tobitsch, both graduates from Grove City College, opened the first Franktuary in the back of a historic gothic cathedral in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2004.  A few years later they launched their mobile food truck in 2010, and in 2013 they decided to open a 2,000 square foot restaurant and bar in Pittsburgh as well.  They are well on their way to a life of success.

About the Business:

Their mission statements is a great reflection of what they do.  It reads, “At Franktuary, we believe that serving good food is only possible where frank conversation, vibrant communities, and healthy nutrition meet. Our restaurant has transformed the humble frankfurter from its New York City street cart roots to serve it quickly, elegantly, and with a variety of fresh, creative toppings and sides. Franktuary sources healthier, tastier foods that are better for the farm animal, the earth, and the human body.”  What they have done differently as a business, was being able to remove high fructose corn syrup altogether.  They have been able to show customers new ideas and approaches to foods, which ultimately is more nutritional to the body, and more enjoyable to eat!!

Mission:

“Inspired by the sun drenched, salt stained, American born lax lifestyle, Top Ched Lax is the eye-catching clothing that will set you apart in a crowd. Our clothing may be too bold for most to pull off, but that is exactly what makes it so special for those who can. Ask yourself, do you have what it takes to be daringly different?  However, our mission is to spread the cheesy wonder of slappin’ T to all fellow laxers. We celebrate the passion of laxers to shoot upper cage all up in the goalie’s grill and set out to conquer and combat all coaches who utter the despicable phrase “high to low.” One can go low and away all day, but it takes talen

“King of Personal Branding”

Dan Schawbel_bkt_4488

Dan Schawbel

Dan Schawbel’s life was changed when he read “The Brand Called You” by Tom Peters in 2007.  As a young boy, Schawbel believed that he fit the stereotype of a geek.  He lived a socially awkward life until he was hired to work in EMC’s product marketing department after college.  Even though he was hired to work in this department, Schawbel continued to work on side projects outside of his work environment at EMC.  He started his blog and magazine, which opened up a whole new world for him.  EMC quickly found out about his successes, and created a new position for him as the company’s social media specialist.

THe Company: Millennial Branding

Dan Schawbel founded the company, Millennial Branding in 2010, at the age of 26.  He decided to leave EMC and pursue his dreams in starting his own company.  The main idea of his branding company is broken down into two specific goals.  First, he finds it vital to teach people of his own generation the importance of personal branding.  He then shows them how personal branding can be used through social media.  Not only does Schawbel do this on a personal level, he also works on corporate branding as well.

Woman2Woman Project

The founders of Rooted Beauty, Sharon and Kim, wanted to create a skincare line in which was “good for you, good for the earth and good for others”.  The idea focused around skincare, is actually making the products with ingredients that the consumer will recognize.  Not only does it help the environment, but Rooted Beauty is  a cause-related business in which it helps women around the world break out of poverty and sex trafficking.  Rooted Beauty wants to naturally nourish the skin with fruit and botanical extracts.  The main idea of the Woman2Woman Project is to afford women the opportunity to break free from bondage to create a life of long-term stability.  Once a the sponsoring of one woman is complete, then the next “Project” begins.  This is a way for women to feel beautiful with the type of skin care they use and help other women leave the life of bondage from poverty and the dangers of sex trafficking.

Micah List: The TOK Project

The TOK Project- Micah List

 Founder:

The millennial entrepreneur, Micah List, was inspired to create The TOK Project during his time traveling abroad in Bangkok, Thailand.  Throughout his time in Bangkok, List was a witness to the sale of sex.  Not knowing that sadly the trafficking of women occurred frequently in Bangkok, his experience pushed him to the instant thought of finding hope for these innocent women.

The Motto and Mission of TOK:

DYPCleansquare

The TOK Project’s motto is “DO YOUR PART”.  Through this phrase, they are encouraging this generation to make the world a better place, and to ultimately make a difference.  By giving 25% of their profits back to the safe homes, their main goal is to end up employing the women who have been trafficked for sex into skilled workers to eventually create their products.

“TOK Project’s mission is to create individually hand crafted fashion pieces for the fashion conscious person while helping to empower victims of commercial sex trafficking” – Micah List

Current Status:

As of now TOK is operated fully by Micah and Hannah, his sister.  Through social media and word of mouth, their business is only going to continue to grow and make the world a better place.  They currently are working on the process of putting sewing machines in a few safe homes all around the globe!
