Sean Belnick: Bizchair.com

When I first moved into my college dorm I filled the small rectangular space full of furniture and different housing items, most of my friends were moving furniture into their rooms as well. When Sean Belnick was 14 he wasn’t moving furniture into his dorm not only because he wasn’t going to college at the time but also because he was moving furniture out of his room. As a young teenager he had created a company named bizchair.com, it was a company that supplied furniture of all different types. He started out by putting an initial investment of $500 down to buy some inventory and just like that Sean was literally running his business out of his bedroom! In 2004, he moved into his first warehouse and by 2009, he had more than 702,000 square feet of warehouse space from the initial 40,00 square feet. The company continued to grow and grow and recorded an astounding 58 million dollars net worth in 2010. Today, Sean Belnick is worth 42 million dollars and it all began in his childhood bedroom.

John Magennis: Designing the Future

Have you ever heard of services such as Wix or WordPress? Well, for those who haven’t, thy are platforms of software on which a user can build a fully customizable and interactive website. The end result is a beautiful and simple made website, but whats the catch? How can this appeal to millions? Well, it is so simple because it removes the coding from the website building process, the users simply have to design the website with all the code already pre-written. This is huge nowadays but back in the 90’s they didn’t have this technology. Instead, if you wanted a website, you had to hire someone to build it for you in pure code. This is where a 16 year old named John Magennis came into play, building websites for a business. He started out building websites for only $15 but he was then recognized for his work and he soon pumped those numbers up to be around $30,000 for a single site! He was doing very well for himself and was named entrepreneur of the year. Today, 32 years old, he is a reality T.V producer and a professional speaker on entrepreneurship. This just goes to show, you never quite know where you will end up in entrepreneurship.

Arjun Rai: Teen Battling Google

When we hear the word “Google” most people think of the monopoly that runs the internet. In a lot of cases this is true, they have complete dominance in the industry of web browsing and most of the advertising. Who would think that an 18 year might combat this multi-billion dollar company? Well, Arjun Rai did just that. After working with and becoming the COO of an online advertising company, Arjun had gained enough experience to start his own online advertising company. This business venture led him to create a company named odysseyAds. OdysseyAds is an online network with a focus on catering to 21st century marketer needs. As a young entrepreneur myself I find this story to be very inspiring just because of the fact that we do have people out there who aren’t afraid of these market dominating companies.

Palmer Lucky: Oculus VR

We can all agree that technology in the past decade has evolved by spontaneous amounts. One of the areas of technology that has especially seen these effects is the gaming industry. Graphics in gaming has come so far in the past few years and is now at a point where it looks very realistic. Well, 22 year-old entrepreneur Palmer Lucky was working on a technology in a trailer in front of his parents house in California and developed something called the Oculus Rift. The Oculus is a set glasses that one can put on an escape the reality of the world. While this technology can help architects build buildings, help surgeons practice surgery, or help soldiers manage their PTSD, Lucky is most excited about applying it to the area of virtual reality video gaming. Just imagine entering into your own world after a long day at work. Of course, there will be a good amount of controversy on the health affects of the Oculus but it is indeed a very cool concept and once that is worth noting.Image result for oculus rift

His ties are priced at about 40$ a piece and come in all kinds of different designs. Talk about a young entrepreneur right? I believe this is the kind of spirit we need to carry with us. He didn’t create this business purely for the money, he just translated a personal passion of his into some need should be fulfilled. He has been featured on the show Shark Tank and in several different magazines. I’m excited to see where he might take this company as he grows up. I love stories such as this because they are real evidence of what a passion for something might produce.

Robert Nay: Bubble Ball

The story of a young entrepreneur, Robert Nay, is one to look back on in awe. At the age of 14  he released an app called bubble ball. The app is a logic based game that requires ingenuity and creative thinking to get a ball from one end of the level to a goal on the other end. He developed it himself and it has been download over 16 million times. When I hear stories such as this I am very impressed by the motivation and talent that this child must have. I have personally looked into coding and programming and it not something that is easily mastered, especially for your average 14 year old. Bubble ball isn’t the only game this kid has developed, he has created numerous apps that can be found on his website. I took a look at the game and it seemed to be very entertaining. This whole of idea of youngsters programming at such a young age is inspiring to me. I have looked into learning several different computer languages and it takes a large amount of motivation and hard work. The idea that this kid had to innovate and create an app is also surprising because most kids at his age are playing in the woods or playing xbox. Overall I am very surprised to see such success at such a young age, it is inspiring.
