Zollipops by Alina Morse

A chance encounter turned into a multi-million dollar business for Alina Morse. When Alina was just 7 years old, she was offered a lollipop at the bank. Alina was hesitant to accept, because she had always been told that sugar was bad for her teeth. She wanted to create a candy that was good for teeth, so she set out to do just that with the help of her dad.

Alina Morse CEO Zolli Candy

Alina named her business Zolli Candy, and it creates sugar-free, diabetic friendly, keto,

gluten-free, nut-free, and some vegan candies. Her wide accommodations make her product

very innovative. She solved her problem by creating candy that has ingredients that are good for

dental care. At a young age, Alina recognized a universal problem that people needed a solution for. Alina’s problem solving and compassion make her a remarkable young entrepreneur. Her desire to help others drives her to expand her products to reach a broader market. Zolli Candy now offers Zollipops, Zolli Drops, Zaffi Taffy, and Zolli Caramelz. These products allow for a wider customer population.

Zolli Candy can be found in 250,000 retail locations. Alina has also created the Million Smiles Initiative to promote oral health and spark conversation on a variety of topics. After applying for the program, schools can receive Zollipops to give to the kids and share their message.

As an entrepreneur, Alina is an inspiration. She followed her dream to create a product to help people with dental hygiene while tasting good. She showed me that redesigning a product can be innovative. She also was able to expand into an organization that teaches kids about health. I think it is very admirable that she is able to give back with her company.

Overall, Alina’s Zolli Candy business is a true work of entrepreneurship as she helps kids with dental health in a way that is fun and creative.

Alina Morse, Founder and CEO of Zollipops

She is the founder and owner of Zolli Candy which is a twist on normal candy. She sells candy that is orally healthy and still just as tasty. The first candies that she ever sold were called Zollipops. According to Inside Edition (Meet Alina Morse, the 14-Year-Old CEO of a Multimillion-Dollar Candy Empire | Inside Edition),

Zolli Candy is sold in about 25,000 major retailers across the country, including Walmart and Walgreens, and the company’s first product, the Zollipop, is the No. 3 best-selling lollipop on Amazon. They taste like normal sweets but are sugar-free since they’re made with low-calorie substitutes like xylitol and erythritol.

Alina’s story started when she was only 7 years old. She was on a trip and someone at a shop was offering lollipops and like any other kid Alina wanted one, but her dad refused the candy telling her that the sugar was bad for her teeth. That caused her to think. She wanted to made candy that was safe for the consumers. This started her journey of finding healthy ingredients for her product. She spent $3,750 plus a certain amount from her family to launch her business. At age 9 Alina had the opportunity to sell her product to a regional Whole Foods. That meeting went well because afterwards they began selling her product in their store.  Because she is so passionate about oral health, 10% of her proceeds are gifted to oral health in schools. Additionally, she has stated an organization to teach school kids about the importance of oral hygiene, and when the schools teach the children, she donates her Zollipops to the schools. Her organization is called Million Smiles Initiative. Click this link to learn more: https://millionsmilesinitiative.org/

Tara Bosch: The 22 Year Old That Reinvented Candy

Tara Bosch is the 22 year old founder of Smart Sweets- a company that focuses on providing healthy alternatives to candy as you know it. A year after launching, her company had already sold over one million dollar’s worth in product.

Tara got her inspiration from her grandmother and the desire to make her younger self proud. When Tara was younger, she had an unhealthy relationship with food. She had a turning point when she had a conversation with her grandmother who told her that she regretted eating so much excess sugar over her lifetime as it was having negative impacts on her quality of life. The combination of her grandmother’s advice and her past experience with food gave her the passion to finding healthier alternatives to sugar-filled candy.

Tara started creating candy recipes in her kitchen from scratch and even dropped out of college within two months. After months of trial and error, she finally came up with a recipe using no sugar, sugar alcohols, or artificial sweeteners. In an interview with Forbes she said, “I had no idea what I was doing, but I had the conviction in my heart that I would find a recipe and a way to innovate the first candy that kicks sugar, naturally.”

She got her first retailer by picking up the phone, calling them, and showing up in the store. She describes this experience saying, “I’ll never forget showing up to the first retailer who said ‘yes’ to taking a meeting, my voice shaky and my stomach feeling like it was churning a million miles a minute.” After showing much persistence, she was able to grow the number of retailers at a fast pace.

Her goal is to see more people choose sugar free options in order to have a higher quality of life, while still enjoying the candy they love. Tara didn’t have every single step planned out, but she did have passion and a vision. She pursued this passion with 100% effort and got the results she dreamed of.
