Ray J

Ry J is a prime example of someone who was extremely well off and very wealthy yet was not satisfied. Ray J is a very successful singer and actor who has made millions of dollars between those two professions but had the entrepreneurial drive to want more. After being wildly successful in the music industry in the mid 90’s to the mid 2000’s, Ray J decided to start a consumer electronics company called Raytroniks in 2007. The company’s catalog included items like electric bikes, smartphone fans, and smart watches. The key to the company’s success was the free advertising he got from celebrities like Snoop Dogg, Stephen Curry, and Justin Bieber, who simply used the products because they were made by their friend. Ray J saw always had a passion for inventing small gadgets and realized that he could use his platform to get free advertising from beloved celebrities, which would lead to lots of sales purely off of name value. Another very profitable invention by Ray J are his wireless Bluetooth earbuds called “Raycons”. Ever since they’re release, Apple’s air pods have dominated the wireless earbuds scene, but the only problem was that all of their features only worked with apple products. Ray J saw this flaw and decided to make earbuds that had all of the features of air pods, but were compatible with any device. We can learn from Ray J that no matter what industry we work in, we always have the opportunity to do what we love, which can often lead to success.

Mark Rober

Mark Rober is a successful social media influencer who currently has over twenty three million subscribers on YouTube. However, this was not his first job. Rober grew up with a passion for engineering that would eventually lead to him getting a job for NASA in their Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He would work there for nine years and it would be there where he would begin making viral videos until 2013 when he would fully pursue his YouTube career. Rober was able to turn his childhood passion for engineering into not only a job working for NASA, but also a wildly successful and lucrative career making videos on YouTube. This just goes to show that even though most people think of work as something you do solely to make money, it does not always have to be that way. Rober has made millions by turning the thing he has loved for his entire life into a lucrative career, which most likely doesn’t even feel like work to him. This story also  shows that sometimes in business you have to take a leap of faith. Rober already had a very lucrative job at NASA, but he really wanted to pursue YouTube, so he decided to take that leap of faith and it has turned out to be a great decision.

Jimmy Donaldson – MrBeast

MrBeast (@MrBeast) / Twitter

Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, is an American businessman and philanthropist who has one of the most subscribed YouTube channels of all time. MrBeast is best known for making insane and often expensive challenges for other people to participate in to win big cash prizes. He is motivated by more than just one reason. In an interview, he said, “I’m motivated because I want to support my mom and my family. I am motivated because I want to employ my friends and help them. I am motivated because I want to be a YouTuber.” He has the desire to help others and has been helping others by donating so much money in many of his videos.

His idea is great because he is entertaining people while giving to others simultaneously. MrBeast demonstrates the entrepreneurial traits of experimentation and improvement. He wants to make the best videos on YouTube and make sure that each one is better than the last. How are they innovating? Eric Rivera, Jeff Emann, and Ben Christensen – FaZe Clan

Eric Rivera, Jeff Emann, and Ben Christensen are three young entrepreneurs who founded the highly reputable and well-known gaming organization, FaZe clan in May of 2010. These three entrepreneurs started FaZe clan through a YouTube channel named FaZe Sniping, where the these three plus others would share videos of their skills on the popular video gaming franchise, Call of Duty. FaZe Sniping would transition into FaZe clan, and at one point, was the most popular video gaming channel and entertainment source on YouTube. As of today, FaZe is regarded as both a professional esports and entertainment organization. FaZe clan has kept its YouTube channel relative all these years, accumulating over 8.5 million subscribers. Countless members of the organization have also found immense success on social media, most notably being FaZe Rug, who currently has 22 million subscribers on YouTube. While the official FaZe clan and members of the organization have mostly transitioned away from video gaming content, FaZe still has high designation in the esports community, consistently making appearances in high ranking and paying tournaments across various gaming franchises. Earlier this year, FaZe clan was ranked the 4th most valuable esports company by Forbes. FaZe is also among the few esports companies that are publicly traded on the NASDAQ. While there are many owners of FaZe clan currently, the success of the company that has accumulated over the last decade has much to do with the entrepreneurial minds of the clan’s three founders.

Eric July – Rippaverse

Eric July, better known on YouTube as YoungRippa59, is an American musician, YouTuber, comic book writer, libertarian political commentator, and founder of the Rippaverse. The Rippaverse is a new individual comic book company created by Eric. He was driven to create the Rippaverse after seeing major comic book companies like DC comics and Marvel comics succumb to the woke ideologies of the modern era, which caused them to hire writers who care more about pushing their woke agendas over story and characters and let them destroy beloved comic book characters for the sake of pandering to the mainstream media. Eric was a YouTube commentator on this issue for years but then decided to be part of the solution by making his own comic books that were not focused on pandering to the mainstream but on telling entertaining stories with great characters.

Eric exhibits entrepreneurial traits of being able to see the problems of a failing product and create a better alternative. He also focuses his company on respecting the customer, creating a story continuity that will not be altered, like DC and Marvel often do, and making a comprehensive story that is easy to follow. He has launched a website for Rippaverse, as well as artists to bring a new era of comic books.

Eric July’s Rippaverse shows that there is a way to please audiences while standing for what you believe. He has received backlash for his efforts but he still perseveres. With his first campaign reaching $3.7 million, it shows that there is an audience for some authentic comic books.

The Bridge to Success

Social media has been building bridges to new ways of innovation and entrepreneurship ever since it began. Those who have capitalized on it when it began, however, are the ones making all the money and gaining the most fame. Felix Kjellberg, or better known to some as “Pewdiepie,” created his youtube account only one year after the website was released. It wasn’t until 2011, though, that he began to post on what would become the largest account on the platform ever (owned by one person). He began by posting quite short and relatively boring videos on his account purely for the entertainment of his friends and himself. As time went on, more people began to find his account, subscribing to it, and Felix’s fanbase grew. Less than a year later he had surpassed the 1 million subscriber mark. He began to post more and more and only a year after that was at 10 million. It was safe to say that he was on the right track.

Pewdiepie began to create merch such as shirts, chairs, headsets, and eventually his own game on the app store. He was rapidly gaining fans and in the spring of 2019, the creator finally reached an astonishing 100 million followers, which meant that 1 in 15 people who used youtube was subscribed to his account. This may not seem like much, however, almost half of the country uses this platform. He is still creating to this day and after selling many products and featuring in other videos and ads, he has accumulated roughly a cool $45,000,000 from online interactions alone. Felix will forever be remembered in the industry of videomaking and for revolutionizing the world by his assistance in bridging the gap between the real and digital worlds of entrepreneurship.

Nelk Boys

Nelk Boys is a group that was created with the passion for fun and entertainment. It was created by three guys named Jessie, Steve, and Kyle. They were in high school and Kyle and Jessie were best friends and they wanted to start a youtube channel where they could have fun and entertain people. The group started out slow for the first couple of years and did not make much progress. But the older they got and the more wild and fun the videos they posted started becoming, the bigger the following became. Eventually they met Steve and they all clicked instantly and all had the same drive for fun and entertainment. The began doing pranking videos where they go out in public and prank random strangers while doing funny things and make the person confused. Now they have over 5 million subscribers on youtube and a merchandise brand that is in extremely high demand. These men show their entrepreneurial minds by the grind they show in their efforts to pursue a dream they have. Their brand was failing early on but they believed in themselves and kept persevering. But now a days they are so famous that they were invited on the presidents plane to meet him. It goes to show that perseverance pays off.
