Cory Nieves – Mr. Cory’s Cookies

Cory Nieves is a twenty-year-old entrepreneur who founded Mr. Cory’s Cookies at the age of 6. This is an all-natural cookie store that offers fourteen original cookie recipes such as Double Dark, Oatmeal Raisin, and Sugar.

This all started when he would complain to his mom about taking the bus to school and wanted to buy a car instead. Because of this, he decided to sell hot cocoa in the town of Englewood to raise funds for a new car for his mom. He would sell Swiss Miss for $1 a cup. Then, he would expand his business to start selling lemonade and cookies for a college fund. He started searching online for the perfect cookie recipe and once he found it, the recipe was a hit. That is when he knew he had a business. He would take cookies to local races and festivals and would sometimes make up to $150 on the weekends. At one point, his business was shut down for selling treats baked in a home kitchen, which was a health code violation. He was referred to an attorney and he was able to form a business legally and secure a commercial kitchen.

Mr. Cory’s Cookies has partnered with many other businesses such as J. Crew, Mercedes-Benz, Pottery Barn, Ralph Lauren, Whole Foods, Macy’s, and many more. He was also featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2015, which was a big hit, and he gained an overwhelming number of orders. To scale, he sought out investment and made an appearance on CNBC’s The Profit and he earned a $100,000 cash infusion. He launched an e-commerce site, hired cookie helpers, and started shipping products across the country.

It was not easy making the cookies, but Cory was very dedicated and motivated and persevered through many challenges. Cory’s story is inspiring to many people, and it goes to show that with dedication, you can go from making and selling cookies from your home to a big successful business.

A millionaire within 18 months, but his story doesn’t start there. Wes Watson was born and raised in San Diego, California, where he embodied the coastal California lifestyle of surfing and skateboarding. At 12 years old, Watson began his journey down what would eventually become disaster, experimenting with marijuana. By the time he turned 14, Wes transitioned from merely using marijuana to dealing drugs, which eventually inclined him towards other illegal activities. Throughout the years, Watson’s involvement in crime escalated, with him frequently partaking in violence. In the end, his lifestyle caught up with him. After a dispute with a customer, Watson was arrested and imprisoned for assault with a deadly weapon, battery with serious injury, among other charges, resulting in a 10-year sentence in California prison.

It could have all ended there. Instead, immediately upon entering jail, Watson resolved to reinvent himself. Confinement was the crucible for his self-transformation. Instead of sleeping in, Watson began waking up at 3 AM, a practice he continues to this day. He focused on generating a meticulous daily routine involving physical fitness, discipline, and mindset development. Programming was also huge for Wes Watson. A topic he talks about frequently in his content, programming the mind is one of his keys to producing meaningful results in life. Watson’s strict adherence to programming while in prison earned him the admiration of fellow inmates.

Ten years later, in 2018, Watson was released and was miles away from financial freedom; he had hardly $200 to his name. However, he had something much more valuable: a deeply ingrained sense of discipline and an entrepreneurial plan for domination. In an age when people are pursuing fitness more than ever before, the former Californian prisoner launched Watson Fit, an online coaching business geared beyond just fitness but also to the entirety of life. Watson Fit takes individuals to the next level when implemented. His mission is to make clients the best version of themselves by making self-development a lifestyle. When one reaches the highest levels of self-development, Watson believes that money will automatically flow to them. The company quickly became a hit, attracting clients who not only sought gains in the gym but a complete overhaul of their lives.

One successful entrepreneurial endeavor was insufficient for the high ambitions of Wes Watson. His next income stream was personal branding, in the launch of his YouTube channel, GP Penitentiary Life, where he diffuses raw, unfiltered stories from his time in the prison system, in addition to motivational and gym content. This led to a surge on Instagram as well, with him boasting nearly one million followers at the time of this article. Having such a large presence on social media allows Watson to monetize not only his posts but also serves as free marketing for his coaching program. Sugarcoating life is not something Watson specializes in, and this rawness appeals to his target demographic.

Fortune 500 CEOs get paid as much as the value he has personally created through his mindset. Despite his outward success, he remains committed to his core principles. He still wakes up at 3 AM, constantly seeks self-improvement, and posts loads of daily social media content. To maximize self-development, Watson now brings together groups of like-minded individuals and entrepreneurs who are dedicated to making money and achieving freedom. His success story is not merely one of entrepreneurial triumph but one characterized by breaking free from limitations and creating a lifestyle that incorporates growth in all spheres.

When thinking of modern-day entrepreneurs, I think of social media influencers. Social media has become such a life-changing career for a lot of people, and it has truly become a major influence on the younger generation. One entrepreneur that has proven himself to be influential and successful is Jimmy Donaldson.

Under the username MrBeast, Donaldson has built a social media empire, and is worth an alleged $700 million at the young age of 26. Along with his YouTube channel that has over 315 million subscribers, he is also the founder of the snack and candy company, Feastables. Donaldson got his start in 2012 on YouTube, and gained fame years later with innovative but silly ideas like counting to 100,000 while on camera.

Donaldson has proven he is the one of the most influential people in the world today, but he has proven that there is more to his life than just earning money. One thing that is very respectable about Donaldson is his redemptive aspect to entrepreneurship. Even though he has never really publicly talked about religion, he comes from a Christian school background. He is a very philanthropic person, and has given millions of dollars to people and businesses in need.

Overall, even though I am not a fan of MrBeast, I think he needs to be included in the greatest entrepreneurs of the Gen Z era. He has created a very entertaining and family-friendly environment, and is not afraid to share his wealth with the world.

At the age of six, young Cory Nieves set out to buy his mom a car. “I was tired of taking the bus, and I wanted to help my mom” Cory explains. The issue? Cars are expensive. So, Cory thought up a plan. Throughout his neighborhood, Cory began to sell Swiss Miss hot chocolate for $1 a cup. While selling these cups of hot chocolate, Cory noticed an opportunity and decided to pivot: cookies. Three months went by, and there before Cory was a cookie made from a recipe he and his mom worked hard to perfect. He bit into it, and in his mind, it was the perfect chocolate chip cookie. He was not alone in thinking his cookies were perfect; they were a hit! Deciding it was time to expand beyond his neighborhood, Cory went out to events and pitched his cookies to potential customers. His business only grew as time went on. After making an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, demand for Cory’s cookies flooded in. The business, at the time only Cory and his mom, had to grow to keep up. The business was incorporated into an LLC corporation, an e-commerce website was created and launched, and more “cookie helpers” were hired. Soon enough, Cory’s cookies were being shipped all over the country. The story of Mr. Cory’s Cookies is an inspiring example of bootstrapping and thinking as an entrepreneur.  From having an idea, to experimenting in his kitchen, to creating a flourishing business, Cory displays entrepreneurial thinking in how he was able to see a problem, find a solution, pivot in his solution, and remain flexible allowing growth with rising demand.

Cleaning Up the World, One Bottle at a Time: Ryan Hickman’s Mission

Ryan Hickman, now a young entrepreneur, began his journey into business at just seven years old—without even realizing it. His passion for recycling was sparked at the age of three, when he noticed bottles and cans littering his community. After identifying the problem, Ryan decided the solution was simple: recycling.

He started small, collecting recyclables from his own home and taking them to a local recycling center, earning five dollars per haul. Realizing the potential to make a difference—and some extra money—Ryan expanded his efforts. Riding his bike through the neighborhood, he knocked on doors with a bag in hand, offering to collect recyclables from his neighbors.

Ryan’s commitment and enthusiasm caught the attention of the media. As his recycling business grew, so did his recognition, with interviews and appearances on national television showcasing his dedication. He even launched a line of T-shirts with the slogan, “Make the Sea Trash Free.”

Unlike most kids his age, Ryan chose to donate all his earnings to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center, a rescue organization, rather than spending it on toys or games. In less than a decade, he has helped recycle over 1.5 million cans and bottles.

His partnerships with popular brands like Gymshark, Vaughn’s Treats, and Revive MD reflect his hands-on approach, ensuring that the products he endorses align with his values of transparency and quality in fitness.

In addition to his business endeavors, CBum is also a massive force on social media. With nearly 5 million followers on TikTok and over 24 million on Instagram, he’s one of the most influential fitness personalities online. He connects with his audience by sharing workout routines, nutrition advice, and personal insights into his life. Bumstead has been open about his struggles with mental health and his battle with IgA nephropathy, an autoimmune disease, further endearing him to fans for his vulnerability and authenticity. Bumstead’s combination of physical achievements, business ventures, and online transparency has made him a fitness icon. Davis Siksnans – Founder of Printful

In the rapidly expanding world of e-commerce, print on demand services have played a key role in helping businesses sell customized products without the need for a large inventory. This also means that young entrepreneurs are able to launch and scale companies with virtually no startup cost. A pioneer in this industry is Davis Siksnans, who co-founded Printful when he was 22. Printful has since become one of the biggest print on demand services and is valued at over 1 billion dollars.

Siksnans started his business as an online store that created print on demand posters with motivational quotes. As his company grew, he quickly realized that there was an opportunity to expand into the biggest category on the internet – clothing. At that time, there was already some competition in the industry, so Printful had to differentiate itself to draw customers away from the other providers. Siksnans achieved this by making Printful user-friendly and easy to integrate with e-commerce sites, such as Shopify. This took the logistical headaches out of print on demand and e-commerce services, which was the key to Printful’s success.

While Davis Siksnans did not start a “0-1” business, he became a highly successful entrepreneur because he looked at the problem differently than his competitors. He didn’t invent print on demand apparel, but he revolutionized the industry by making the experience user friendly so that anyone can start an e-commerce store. As mentioned earlier, Printful has grown to become one of the top competitors in the industry and is valued at over 1 billion dollars. They continue to thrive and explore new possibilities within the print on demand industry. Siksnans story clearly shows how creativity and innovation can create opportunities even when there are already other competitors. He looked at the problem differently, and that resonated with the market.

 

Cassidy Crowley: The Baby Toon

Cassidy Crowley is a young entrepreneur from Hawaii who invented a product called the Baby Toon. The Baby Toon is a rectangularly shaped feeding tool for infants that also functions as a teether. The product is silicone based and flexible, eliminating the choking hazard and possible harm, such as poking an eye, that comes with regularly shaped spoons. The feeding utensil can easily be grasped by a baby with the rectangular shape and can be attached to a baby’s shirt using a pacifier clip to avoid spoons being thrown on to the floor.

Cassidy came up with the idea when she was seven years old after watching her mom struggle with feeding her baby sister with a regularly shaped spoon. At age seven, she took part in the Honolulu District Science Fair, which went on to receive notable mention from the event. She presented a prototype that she later learned how to make in a silicone, flexible material, and brought the product to the market.

Cassidy landed a spot on Season 11 of Shark Tank, pitching her idea with the hope of a $50,000 investment for 50% of her company. Cassidy accepted an offer for exactly what she wanted from Lori Greiner. Sales for the Baby Toon skyrocketed after appearing on Shark Tank, bringing in $100,000 in revenue a month after its premier. With the help of Lori, the Baby Toon made a deal with Munchkin, a leading baby and children’s product manufacturer, which put the product in over 5,000 stores. The Baby Toon is available online through Amazon and Munchkin, as well as stores such as Target and Walmart.

Cassidy is proof that no matter how old you are, starting a business and being successful is achievable. As of 2024, the Baby Toon is worth over $1 million, something that Cassidy never could have imagined, but couldn’t be prouder of!

Kenan Pala: Founder of Kids4Community

Kenan Pala was only 11 years old when he founded the nonprofit organization Kids4Community in 2017. Growing up in his hometown of San Diego, Kenan was born with a servant’s heart. He loved to volunteer at soup kitchens, beach cleanups, and more. He always looked for opportunities to serve others in his community but soon found out that many places he wanted to volunteer at had age restrictions. To his surprise, many of the local nonprofits he wished to support only allowed people over the age of 18 to volunteer. Kenan’s dream to create a solution to this problem was realized when he founded an organization that not only accepted but also encouraged children of all ages to volunteer and serve in their communities. In Kenan’s words, “All our events are open to anybody of any age. If you have the passion, you can come.” Kids4Community funds programs for a variety of social issues. Two years later, it has raised more than $1 million dollars for homeless initiatives, for example, gathering and cooking meals for homeless shelters. It also strives to promote awareness of other concerns such as educational programs for kids and adults about the dangers of substance abuse. In honor of Kenan Pala and the difference he has made in his city, the mayor of San Diego named January 23, Kenan Pala Day. But Kenan’s influence didn’t stop in San Diego. The organization changed the lives of countless people by preparing more than 8,000 packs of food, beverages, soaps, shampoos and wet wipes for homeless people. They were donated to institutions for the homeless across the U.S. In 2017, he was named one of the top ten youth volunteers in the country by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. Kenan Pala has made a significant difference in his hometown of San Diego and communities everywhere. Kids4Community is fostering an eagerness to serve the less fortunate in the lives of children of all ages.
