The Sweetest Devotion: Ashley Hetherington’s Journey as a Christ-Centered Influencer

Struggling to find her footing on a path through a season of worldly pressures and broken relationships, Ashley Hetherington was a young woman on the hunt for meaning and purpose, an unconscious search for her Lord burning from a heart of confusion riddled with footholds. But now, standing on the other side of this mountain of turmoil, is an emboldened 24-year-old woman of God whose radiant passion for Christ shines through her efforts as an influencer, author, and content creator. This renewed relationship with God that grew from one of the darkest periods of Ashley’s life has lit in her a fervor for helping other young women come to terms with fighting their own battles, especially concerning faith.

Hetherington has achieved this through business initiatives that, initially, took a leap of faith to pursue wholeheartedly; graduating from Miami University with a degree in interactive media studies and journalism and thus armed to aid in the growth of other companies, she never thought her own writing and social media presence would grow into anything more than a hobby and college pastime. But keeping God central to the trajectory of her life and career has led to a fruition of and full-time devotion to this mission through many outlets.

Ashley’s simple aim has been to encourage her fellow sisters in Christ, citing Proverbs 16:24: “Kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”  She orchestrates a variety of media to reach her followers, including several bestselling books and eBooks, an online blog called “The Honey Scoop”, social media channel (accessible through Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and Facebook), a podcast, and a free email subscription for weekly devotionals called “The Hive.” Additionally, Hetherington has a premium Bible study deemed “The Tree”, which includes a daily Bible reading plan, weekly devotional video, monthly group calls with women from across the globe, and access to recommended worship playlists, podcasts, and book recommendations. Ashley’s content, especially “The Tree”, reaches thousands of women from all over every year, uniting them under the purpose of growing into stronger, faith-filled daughters of Christ.

Notably, amidst this success, Hetherington always offers this glory back to Christ. She stated in an interview with Peer Magazine, “I’ll never forget that in one of the lessons [at Miami University], we were taught we are in the business of effort and God is in the business of result so it’s on us to put in the effort. To put in the work, to do the time, to be consistent, to innovate, to network, to show up every day, but God is in the business of results.” In Zero to One, Peter Theil remarks on “the guiding concepts of business”, among these principles being that “it is better to risk boldness than triviality (p. 20).” Ashley Hetherington is living a life and guiding a mission that testifies to the truth in this notion—whatever the internal struggles and external obstacles someone faces, a heart and business built on the Rock will flourish in His perfect timing for the glory of His kingdom.

College Dropout to Millionaire-Ryan Trahan

A Youtuber and Entrepreneur, Ryan Trahan started at 14 to become an entrepreneur. He started a simple water bottle business that would later help make him into a millionaire. Starting his YouTube channel in 2015, Ryan posted about his daily life at college as a student athlete. However, he quickly gained followers due to his creativity and humor within his videos. Having adopted just 30,000 YouTube followers and juggling his business, Ryan was pressured with his college or his business. His school had set a tight rule with him, as a student athlete, making it so he couldn’t brand himself properly while in college. Because of this, Ryan had to choose between a high-risk endeavor or the college route, and he chose the entrepreneurial side. Ryan had the same mindset Peter Thiel speaks of, saying, “I view creating as entrepreneurial. Creating something from nothing has always been ingrained in me.” Thus, his career rocketed. His small water business became a great part of his revenue. The business, known as Neptune, was built to create sustainable water bottles which would reduce plastic waste. With his social enterprise, Ryan also used his business to support several organizations centered around cancer.

While Ryan had Neptune blooming, he also opened up a clothing line called Hydra Collection, which became his personal merch on his social media accounts, as well as another clothing line, Howdy Howdy, and a candy company, Joyride. Creating innovative videos on YouTube and establishing his businesses across the world has made Ryan Trahan into a wealthy, young entrepreneur. From going on live television to creating television series of his own, Ryan meets every corner around the world to grow and engage with his audience.

Ryan is known for his penny-to-a-house series and simply racing people in airports. Through his creative and entertaining work, he has amassed 17 million followers on YouTube with over 3 billion views worldwide!

Lily Born: The Kangaroo Cup

Lily's Grandpa with his Kangaroo Cup

Lily Born is a great example of someone who sees a problem and seeks out the solution. At 7 years old, she noticed her grandpa knocking over and spilling drinks due to Parkinson’s disease. This led to her grandma constantly cleaning up after him. This inspired her to create a product called Kangaroo Cups. This cup consists of three legs that prevents it from tipping over. She made a prototype for her grandpa with plastic mold and a year later made one for her dad using ceramic. Lily and her dad traveled across the world to refine the models and find a manufacturer to get this product on the market. They got financial support from crowdfunding platforms like Indiegogo and Kickstarter. She was listed as Business Insider’s top 11 year old in tech and Mochi’s “25 game changers under 25.” She has also made various headlines. Lily Born is now 16 years old and has sold tens of thousands of Kangaroo cups worldwide. Lily is not only an inspiration for her innovative idea, but for her determination despite being a timid young girl.

Moziah Bridges: The Teen Fashion Mogul

In a world where most high school sophomores are juggling homework and sports, Moziah Bridges stands out as a cool and savvy entrepreneur. Imagine starting a business at just 9 years old! Moziah’s brainchild, Mo’s Bows, isn’t just a business; it’s become a symbol of inspiration and style.

Moziah has always been into fashion, especially suits and ties. But he wasn’t happy with the bow tie options for kids his age, so he decided to change that. With some help from his grandma, who taught him to sew, he started making his own bow ties. He believed that “real men should tie their own ties,” and that’s what set his creations apart.

Starting small, Moziah made a few bow ties from his grandma’s old fabrics. Fast forward, and now he has a whole range, using materials like tweeds, ginghams, satins, and silk. His business took off, landing him on Shark Tank and getting noticed by big magazines like O and Vogue.

But Moziah isn’t just a fashion guru; he’s also a generous guy. He donated $1,600 to send 10 kids from his hometown in Memphis to summer camp. His blog talks about child hunger and how giving back to his community makes him feel humble and happy.

He looks up to Daymond John, who became his mentor after they met on Shark Tank. Having a mentor, someone experienced to guide you, is a big deal, and Moziah knows it.

Looking ahead, Moziah plans to go to college and start a complete clothing line by the time he’s 20. His story teaches us that age doesn’t matter when it comes to chasing your dreams. Quality and hard work are crucial, and giving back to the community is not just about helping others but also about finding joy in making others happy.

In a nutshell, Moziah Bridges’ story is a reminder that with determination and a bit of vision, anyone can turn their dreams into reality.

Da Bomb Bath Bombs – A Company Founded on Fizz and Fun

two women standing in front of confettiTeenage Sisterpreneurs with a love for bath bombs set out to make kids’ experience with bath bombs 10 times more fun! Little did they think the fun activity in their basement starting in 2015 would turn into a booming business. How Isabel and Caroline made their bath bombs stand out, is that each one contains a special surprise in the middle. They knew they got sad when their bomb dissolved, so now you aren’t sad because there’s something inside it in the end that almost compells you to want it to dissolve to see what special object you got! Toys, charms, messages, and jewelry are just a few of the treasures you’ll find inside their products. They also like to keep their bath bombs as natural as possible, making them with just a few high-quality ingredients in their hometown. As their business continued to grow, they now sell different scents, colors, and variations of the bath bombs. Also, other products like body scrubs, bath salts, and shower steamers.

I personally have not seen bath bombs like this, and it intrigues me. As the Christmas season is approaching, I think these would be great gifts for friends or younger siblings. I like how they really differentiated themselves from the normal simple colored bath bomb, making their products, scents, and packaging colorful and creative.

Documentaries and the Art of Stories

Picture this: You’re writing a story. What should you write about? Something interesting, something unique, something thrilling! You want to write about…. Wood. Well, maybe someone who works with wood. But –you say—that doesn’t sound like a story! Sure, that’s what you think, unless you’re Paul Sigler.

Paul Sigler is a cinematographer, graduate of Asbury University, and director of “Reclaim,” a student documentary about Old World Timber, and an employee given a second chance. But “Reclaim” is not just a documentary, it’s a story. After winning two awards in the Highbridge Film Festival, and showcasing at yet another festival, Sigler was able to work through the rest of his education with projects like it. Now, he has his own company, called Sigler Cinematography, Paul takes on all different kinds of projects, from weddings, to commercials, to mission and ministry showcases. With an eye for composition and a passion for the art, Sigler can make a story out of anything, and the redemptive themes in his work often showcase his faith.

It’s easy to think that only a fairytale, or some sci-fi thriller can make a good story. But Paul Sigler shows that a story can be found anywhere, and he tells his stories artfully. Seeing that more than one technique can be used for storytelling is a good reminder to anyone looking to pursue art. Even if you can’t follow what seems like the ideal path, forging your own is possible.

Jacob McQuarrie: Standing for morals in a moral-less world

During his years of playing basketball in high school Yakkem apparel founder and CEO, Jacob McQuarrie, found himself wearing such brands as “Nike” and “Adidas”. One day it occurred to him that the athletic wear market was lacking a company that stood for more than just hard work and determination. In addition, there were no companies in the market that also prioritized values such as faith, family, country, and morality. So, with no money in his bank account McQuarrie instead founded his company on “hard work, grit, and determination”. Truly starting from ground zero, the South Jersey based company has grown into a very profitable business, that has been endorsed by several big-name Christian and conservative athletes, speakers, and influencers. Yakkem has amassed over 40k followers on Instagram alone since its launch in April of 2020 and is continually growing.

People wear this brand because it stands for positivity, faith, family, and country–all things bigger than oneself. Yakkem also seeks to price their products reasonably while at the same time providing the most trendy and stylish clothing. Thus, Yakkem competes with big brands such as Lululemon and Gymshark. “We believe that this company can be the next big brand for people who want to rock a clothing line that stands for American Values and integrity” states their website. The Company is wanting to one day be 100% made in America. Although this is seemingly an ambitious goal for such a young company, they have already launched several products made exclusively in the USA with much success.

As a customer of Yakkem apparel, I appreciate the quality and attractive pricing of the product. More important than this, there is a peace of mind that comes with knowing that my money is going toward a brand that upholds the same morals and values that I find important.
