Healthy Candy?

What if there was candy that was good for you? This question came to Alina Morse, the 12-year-old founder of Zollipops – a candy company that makes products designed to promote the health of your teeth rather than harm them. Alina got her start when she raised the question of healthy candy to her father, who encouraged her to do further research. After consulting with dental hygienists and candy manufacturers, Alina developed a lollipop with natural sweeteners such as xylitol and erythritol which allowed her candy to be sweet without being harmful to teeth. These sweeteners as well as other natural substances affect the pH of the mouth in such a way that bacteria and plaque are unable to form on the surface of teeth, promoting healthy teeth and gums.

After further input from her allergenic friends, Alina went to market with lollipops that were advertised as “sugar-free, gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan, dairy-free, and naturally colored.” Morse was then invited to pitch to the investors on Shark Tank, signing an NDA on the terms of any deal she may have signed.

In just a few years, Zollipops have sold over $2 million in healthy candy, expanding their product line to include other items such as taffy. 10% of the profits are donated to oral healthcare education, keeping with the mission of the company to promote healthy smiles nationwide. In recent days, Alina has been working on expanding the product line further but is remembering to stop and enjoy her success.

Pittsburgh Native Advances Drones

Inventing wizard, Mihir Garimella has taken his curiosity of how the world works and utilized it to power his creative mind to save lives. The 18-year old Pittsburgh native has explored the infinite potential of drones. A very successful inventor for his age, science fair champion, and technology junkie, Garimella had a revelation moment that led to an idea.

Coming home from vacation, Mihir took notice of fruit flies all over some bananas they had sitting on the kitchen counter. After many failed attempts to swat them, he reflected on the irritating, but amazing reaction time of the fruit flies. A creature so small with terrible vision clarity, has one of the fastest vision processing speeds of any creature. Mihir took this discovery and applied it to fast response search and rescue drones.

Now a student at Stanford University in California, he hopes to upgrade his previous idea he called “Firefly” and apply it to rapid response teams. His goal was to create a low-cost, but reliable drone, with adaptable “plug-ins” for separate tasks. And he has delivered. One example of his adaption is applying thermal reading to a drone to process heat signatures given off by distressed humans in need of rescue. Another situation such as a nuclear leak, a specialized drone with radiation detection can identify affected areas for cleanup.

The possibilities are endless. And with the ambition of Mihir, the sky is the limit. Mihir would like to keep his drone under the $1000 range for affordability. After future testing and adaptions, he hopes to have products available in one to two years.

The world is changing, technology is growing; sometimes in a dark way. Mihir understands the dangers of drones and remains optimistic to show the world the positive potential for drones to save lives around the world.

How Marc Benioff Became a Millionaire by Age 25

Marc Benioff, co-founder of Salesforce, showcases his incredible entrepreneurial ability by racing to millionaire status at age 25. How did he accomplish this monumental achievement so quickly? Key factors like software development, humble beginnings, and wise mentors helped skyrocket Benioff’s success as an entrepreneur.

Marc had a passion for developing software. He sold his first software product at just 15 years old. It was a software called “How to Juggle” priced to the buyer at $75. A strong start for young Benioff. He continued, at the age of 15, to develop and sell Atari 800 games such as Escape From Vulcan’s Isle and King Arthur’s Heir. Marc surely showcased his computer and coding prowess. However, none of it would have been possible without this humble start.

Benioff had the opportunity, through the permission of his parents, to work at a jewelry store. He would work there after school hours and do work such as cleaning the floors. This allowed him to save up enough money to purchase his first computer. Little did young Benioff know, this would be the first brick in building his largely successful career.

Continuing to develop his professional skills for 10 years at Oracle, Marc became a millionaire at the young age of 25. He worked as an executive where his salary quickly added up to the millionaire mark.

Marc dreamed of bigger things than what Oracle could offer and began to be inspired to change the way people upgrade their software through the development of the large, well-known company, Salesforce. Salesforce, Benioff says, would not exist without the mentorship he received from Steve Jobs. Marc developed the #1 customer relationship management (CRM) platform. It is a cloud-based application for sales, service, marketing and more. They allow a company to log in and begin connecting to customers without the help of an IT expert.

Custom Sock Designer and CEO

An ambitious high school student took notice of a popular trend of plain Nike socks at basketball games. He wondered how such a simple design gained such popularity. What if he could build of the popularity of simple socks, design custom ones and build a brand for it. What if crazy designs could build off the already established popularity of “simple” socks?

The now 18-year old, Brennan Agranoff has advanced his idea into a brand, earning over $1 million annually. His company, “HoopSwagg” now ships 70 to 100 orders a day! With custom designs ranging from superhero themes, to food items, to crazy color combinations, HoopSwagg’s socks are quite popular on the market.

With a loan from his parents, Brennan began printing on his own colors on socks with heat pressing machines. He was finally seeing his idea materialize. After the first year, sales were slow and nothing impressive. Brennan then had to solve a way to advertise his product. Heading to social media with his unique product, it was a short matter of time to pick up popularity from a sizeable audience.

Now with a warehouse, a website and over ten part-time employees, HoopSwagg is continuing to grow. Agranoff hopes to send HoopSwagg mainstream through retail stores. Agranoff also intends to expand his line of products in the future with custom shoe laces, and other custom designed basketball gear.

Brennan Agranoff, who is still in high school, is a perfect example of ambition in accomplishment. A young boy who decided to act on his simple idea, discovered the big market within retail and customization. By teaching himself skills such as web and graphic design, his ambition continues to only lift the company to more possibilities.

Self Made Millionaire at 18

Related image One entrepreneur who made a name for himself in e-commerce and software is Hayden Bowles. At the young age of 12 years old, he began learning about business and traded stocks. In high school, all he did was sit in class on his phone and traded stocks, which his professors either allowed it or sent him to detention. By sophomore year of high school, he dropped out to pursue business. He started to pursue drop-shipping on Shopify and learned how to use Facebook and Instagram ads to leverage himself. He became so good that he generated roughly $20,000 per month just from Shopify drop-shipping alone. At the same time, Hayden worked hard to build his personal brand through his YouTube videos, Instagram page, and Snapchat following. He acquired business partners to help him manage his Shopify stores. At 17 years old, he embraced networking by meeting very prestigious people all over the country. He moved out of his parent’s house at this time in pursuit of his dream for financial independence and freedom. Hayden saw the opportunity to share his knowledge with the world by creating a buy-in mastermind course for drop-shipping where he provides exclusive strategies that he uses to build his own stores. I have personally joined this course when I built my own Shopify store and I can easily say it was worth the investment. Since then, Hayden has scaled his businesses and built new ones from the ground up. He is now projected to generate over $2 million in net income this year at the age of 18, and posts daily YouTube videos where he shares his knowledge and experiences.

This Australian Teen is Worth How Much?

Image result for ben pasternakBen Pasternak, teen genius, is changing the social technology industry at just 19. Born in Sydney, Australia, Pasternak was raised in an average home with parents who supported him greatly throughout his upbringing. One day during a boring high school science class, Pasternak completed his first app, Impossible Rush. Impossible Rush and his second app Impossible Dial were wildly successful, pulling millions of downloads and were both the No. 1 trending app in multiple countries. The success of this young teen was the beginning of his career and lead to him being the youngest recipient of venture capital for technology at just 15 years old. He proceeded to drop out high school to focus completely on his career in technology. It was this decision as well as incredible opportunity that lead him to relocate to a $5,000/month New York City flat. Pasternak’s next project was an Ebayesque app that was specifically made for teens called Flogg. By the age of just 17, Pasternak was worth over a whopping 2 million dollars, but he was heavily restricted by his parents as well as business partners so as to not let the teenager waste it carelessly. He was named one of TIME magazines most influential teens in 2016.

This Australian teen is inspiring because he is true to himself and extremely relatable. He cannot cook anything other freezer-isle pizza, forgets to pay his rent, and refuses to learn how to drive. He believes that cars will be a thing of the past soon enough that getting a license is a waste of time at this point. Pasternak is your every day teenage with a brilliant method behind his success. He claims that the secret formula is truly understanding your target audience. Ben has accomplished this quite accurately because he is his target audience at old 19 years of age. While middle aged individuals try to crack the code and get into the mind of a teen, Pasternak is at quite the advantage. Due to this method of his, Pasternak has comprised his team of extremely young individuals, the oldest (COO) being 30. Ben Pasternak and his now business partner, Isiah Turner, are co-founders of the app “Monkey”. The high school dropout described this new venture as, “a randomized video-chat program for teenagers… Chatroulette, without the pervs”. Funded by $2 million in angel investments, Monkey quickly amassed hundreds of thousands of users who made more than 250 million calls. Pasternak and Turner describe Monkey’s purpose as to, “fill the loneliness void in teenagers’ by helping them make internet friends around the world, who they can then talk to on Snapchat.” Monkey has an extremely strict code of conduct, and prides itself as being a ‘safe space’ for young users.Image result for ben pasternak

Ben Pasternak is changing the way young teens are viewing their careers. Their entire perspective on entrepreneurship and social technology is being shaped in completely different ways. All of this and more is being accomplished by your typical teen with yeezys and a hoverboard.

Smart Scents

It seems as if entrepreneurs keep getting younger and younger. A 13 year old boy, named Hart Main created what would become the Beaver Creek Candle Company. The company started off producing and selling ManCans, a new kind of candle. ManCans are candles that have many manly scents such as bacon, campfire, coffee, fresh cut grass, and plenty more. The idea came about when Hart was teasing his little sister about the girly scented candles she used to sell for a fundraiser. With a bit of financial help from his parents they created the product, ManCans. ManCans is in approximately 150 different stores nationwide, and is very successful. From ManCans he has created other products for the company as well, including SheCans and specialty scented candles that smell and look like apple pie, cherry pie, and more.

Hart Main originally launched his business because he wanted to earn $1,200 for a bike to compete in triathlons. Hart has now surpassed his goal by a great amount. His business has given 100,000 cans of soup and $35,000 to 25 soup kitchens in four states. What is very interesting about this company is that all products are hand handcrafted, and each candle is carefully prepared, packaged and shipped by people in their workshop. They guarantee a high quality, long burning candle that pools evenly and delivers fragrance from the first light to last. This company has been surprisingly successful and they only plan to keep growing.

This young man, and his company are very inspiring to young people and he shows that entrepreneurship has no age. This young man started his company at 13 by simply noticing that candles are very femininely scented. Hart then created his product in pursuit of a goal, buying himself a bike. All entrepreneurial ideas start with a problem and I believe this demonstrates that concept perfectly. He noticed there were no manly scented candles, and wanted to do something about it. From that, the Beaver Creek Candle Company was born. As a person this shows that Hart is very goal driven, determined and innovative. Hart Main is also genuinely a great person and this is shown by his efforts to help soup kitchens by giving them soup and a portion of all of his sales. He is a great guy with great intentions and I hope this is an insight to others of what makes great entrepreneurs.

Gladiator Lacrosse

When you were a teenager did you feel a lack of control over your circumstances? Often times when we are younger we put boundaries on our abilities to fix problems, but Rachel Zietz did not. Rachel started her own business at the age of 13, coming up with a solution to her problem: the lack of affordable and quality lacrosse practice equipment.

The one thing most people will note about this young entrepreneur is her age, Rachel is now 17 years old and has a professional business model and making money from her solution to a problem she had when she was 13. The thought process Rachel went through to create this idea is how entrepreneurs think every day. We see a problem and we think of all the different ways we can solve it, but she also found a problem that was effecting others as well. Rachel has also taken great strides pitching her business on multiple scales, including season 7 of the Shark Tank. Rachel has a great confidence in her business, which I believe is a big key to her success. Most young people have great ideas but lack the self-confidence to get over the obstacles and criticism they face along the way. Taking a business from the ground to production can be a rough course, but if you believe in your product you can make it to the end.

Simply Sold and Moving On

When people think of multi- millionaire estate tycoons, most don’t picture a 19 year old. However,  most people aren’t Akshay Ruparelia. This young man has redefined the housing industry, owning the 14th largest estate industry in the UK. His company, Doorsteps.co.uk, makes selling your house easier than selling your car. Furthermore, they take away the steep prices of real-estate agents and help you sell your house from the comfort of your own home.

Ruparelia is the son of two deaf parents and currently is their main caregiver. When he was young, he saw first-hand many business practices that he deemed unfair. He especially saw this in the housing industry. Shocked by the high commissions estate agents charged for such a menial task, Ruparelia decided to do something about it. In December of 2016, he launched his online website Doorsteps.co.uk. This site created a network of quality estate agents that could guide customers through the process of selling their house without the steep prices of normal agents. It cuts away the massive overhead pricings, and allows the buyers to be more involved in the process.

Ruparelia found the niche in the stagnant industry by changing the way his company approaches customer service. “Why, oh why, do we give away £20,000 worth of bricks and mortar in our properties to estate agents? For doing what exactly? Putting the house on the internet?” he asked. Instead, he envisioned estate agencies that put their customers first and charged dues that reflected that mindset. Thus, he charges an upfront price and doesn’t get any commission on the actual sale of the house. Ruparelia leads the charge of agents, selling his first house in the middle of his exams, and ensures that customers receive the service he envisioned.

This site is simple to use, and allows people to sell their houses without ever needing to leave their couches. People simply fill out an online survey or call the 24 hour customer service hotline, and they are connected with an experienced, self-employed estate agent. The agent speaks with them and helps them determine the best package that fits their needs. After the package is approved and  the listing is official, the agent posts the sale on different online sites. People sit back and watch their dedicated agent sell their house, all for less than one hundred pounds. ‘

As the teenager continues to take the industry by storm, he doesn’t forget his goals of a customer centered company. It seems this mindset is paying off, as his company is ranked in the top five for customer service. The press has described his company as the “Uber of the property world.” In an extremely competitive market, Ruparelia’s company has already taken 0.5% of the UK market and is valued at over 12 million pounds. With all of this success, Ruparelia shows no signs of slowing down as he continues to pursue simple selling so his customers can move on.
