Anna Sitar: A Brand of Positive Encouragement

Anna Sitar is a social media influencer who’s main focus is to spread positivity and joy. She is active on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, and has a website to sell some merchandise like t-shirts and sweatshirts with quotes specific to her personal brand on them. Not quite an influencer, Anna still manages to pull many viewers through her wholesome content. She recommends different brands all the time, and is real about her experiences with her followers.

Her big debut came with her Poland travel blog that she posted on YouTube. Then, once TikTok became popular in the States, Anna started a TikTok account. Her content shows that she is a good-natured, encouraging, kind, and humorous person. Two catch phrases Anna is known for are: “I don’t want it” and “get with it.” Either one is a common phrase in her TikToks.

Although Anna does not have a lot of products to sell and grow as a business, she is cultivating a brand that reaches much further than products. Her clean content and positive outlook help her followers believe in the good that is in the world. Anna Sitar is an encouragement all around, and her entrepreneurial mindset is taking her places.

Her website states her philosophy quite simply: “There is no such thing as an unrealistic standard. This brand represents the fighters, the lovers, and the humans who know what they want, and will not rest until it is achieved. If you don’t believe in us, we don’t want it.” It’s an honest and beautiful brand that can cheer anyone up.

Ipsy- Beauty Subscription Service

Michelle Phan is an American makeup artist, blogger, and entrepreneur. She created a YouTube channel in 2006, being named the “Beyoncé of the beauty-vlogging world”. She was one of the first vloggers to “gain a mass audience” with 8.8 million subscribers. In 2012, she founded Ipsy, a beauty subscription service. Ipsy is a monthly subscription service that sends 5 deluxe-sized beauty products to you. You take a two-minute quiz based on preferences on brands and products, and pay $12 a month for the “glam bag”.

Phan said the reason she created Ipsy was to “disrupt the beauty industry”. She knew YouTube would become very successful for beauty vloggers and wanted to build her brand after creating a channel. Ipsy’s competition was BirchBox and Dollar Shave Club, but Ipsy specialized in “glam bags”. Ipsy is a platform to for people to express their beauty, inner and outer. She said, “makeup is not a mask that covers up your beauty, it’s a weapon that helps you express who you are from the inside.”

A few years after creating Ipsy, Michelle Phan left the company and named Marcelo Camberos the CEO. Within the first six months of launching the website, Ipsy reached profitability. In 2019, Ipsy made over $500 million in revenue and has millions of people buying their “glam bags”. Ipsy includes makeup tutorials, customer reviews, celebrity content, and personalization quizzes. In 2020, Ipsy has over three million subscribers and continues to grow. The reason subscribers continue to buy products from Ipsy is because of their community, individualism, and empowerment. Ipsy builds a strong community to inspire and encourage customers to be creative and feel beautiful. They also celebrate the individual and what makes them unique. Finally, Ipsy empowers their customers by helping customers’ build their brand and express themselves.

Today, people want to feel beautiful with or without makeup. They also want to feel empowered and trust companies’ to help them feel that way. I think that’s why many customers trust Ipsy and continue to buy their products.

Corridor

What do you get when you give a video camera to two industrious and imaginative teenagers? Fun and innovative movies, that’s what. And that is exactly what happened for Sam Gorski and Niko Pueringer in the early 2000’s. Two Minnesota natives, Gorski and Pueringer were always fans of movies and entertainment, in particular, action movies. Their dip into the world of cinema began with Gorski’s father’s video camera. The two teens spent days and weeks creating their own elaborate stories and action scenes. As the years passed, the two’s hobby grew, and they began to produce more and more intricate shorts and videos. In their early twenties the teens made the big decision to move to L.os Angeles. A huge step forward for the pair, the move to L.A. brought with it a host of new opportunities.

Around the time of Gorski and Pueringer’s move, the site YouTube began to become a household name, with many videos achieving “viral” status and several creators climbing the ranks in viewers and subscribers. Although it was not Gorski and Pueringer’s intention to be famous YouTubers, the two were inspired by creators like Freddie Wong, to upload their own videos.

The pairs videos were an instant hit, garnering millions of views and many reaching the front page of YouTube. The two creators had found a golden opportunity and turned all their attention to growing their YouTube channel: Corridor Digital.

Over the next nine years, the two creators continued to produce more and more videos, pulling hundreds of millions of views, creating new, creating new channels, adding more and more people to their team, and eventually working with prestigious brands to produce commercials and product inspired shorts and videos.

Gorski and Pueringer truly elevated the story-driving shorts scene on YouTube, became widely recognized throughout the sight and pioneered the landscape of internet videos. Without a doubt, this pair’s exploits and achievements will shape a new generation of entertainment.

“For the Underdogs”

The internet and YouTube have been a huge innovation for hundreds of millions of people around the world. It has presented new ways of expressing one’s self, communicating with others world-wide, and a unique way of teaching. No one understands that last part as well as Shane Fazen, and his company: FightTips.

Fazen was first introduced to the world of martial arts at the age of 9 via Taekwondo. As he progressed through the art, Fazen began to look at other martial arts, eventually turning to Muay Thai at age 15. At 19, Shane had his very first pro-fight in Thailand, winning by 4th round KO. Due to a foot injury, Fazen began to explore Western Boxing. Upon attending a Gym Coaches Clinic by Coach Kirian Fitzgibbons, Shane realized his calling was not to be a fighter, but rather teacher. Over the coming years, Fazen dedicated himself to not only improving his own skills, but the striking abilities of those he taught.

With the advent of YouTube, there came a new landscape fully ready for innovation and capitalization. Fazen began uploading tutorial and How To videos on his YouTube channel late 2011. However, it was not until late 2012 Fazen truly started uploading on a regular basis. As the years went, Shane’s fan base and following grow, as well as the quality in content. Fazen’s channel began to move away from a “How to win in any street-fight” channel, to primarily focusing on striking techniques and how to’s. As the years passed, Shane’s channel “FightTips”, grew, pulling more and more views and having appearances of professional MMA and martial arts fighters/coaches. In the spring of 2018, the FightTips team began to grow, with the introduction of Vince “The Anomaly” Cachero, a professional MMA fighter, followed by PJ Shirdan, and Erin Herle. This influx of new talent and coaches took Shane’s brand and channel to a new level, providing even more in-depth break downs and material. At the same time the FightTips channel was growing, so were the FightTips products, with the release of numerous quality martial arts equipment (speed bags, double-end bags, gloves, etc.) and apparel.

Fazen and FightTips have ushered in a whole new opportunity for learning and teaching through the internet. As of the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown, the FightTips channel has uploaded numerous quarantine-workout videos, offering those who cannot leave their houses/access a gym an opportunity to grow and perfect their striking. Shane has truly pioneered and innovated the market for online coaching, and in the coming years, I for one am excited to see where it leads.

A Young Phenomenon

Tristyn Lee is an 18 year old bodybuilder. I remember seeing his posts on Instagram years ago and thinking, “This kid looks crazy”, now he really looks freaky. Tristyn lee is very unique because you don’t often see 18 year old’s with the dedication he possesses. He is very consistent in the gym and in documenting every session on YouTube. I believe Tristyn is successful because he is persistent with his uploads to social media, his crazy conditioning and size and constantly is driving for a better look. He is never satisfied. With one point four million Instagram followers Tristyn has grown to achieve the privilege of a very popular social media influence. This Gen Z phenomenon started out by playing soccer and wanting to get a little more out of the gym. Now his whole image is rooted there. He has taken this and used it to grow and set out to achieve more. He is soon to be competing in his first bodybuilding show, and assume he will win if not place top 3.

Sneaker Empire: Keith Adam

Background of Sneaker Reselling

Many young teenagers dream of starting their own youtube channel, and one day making a career out of it.  That’s where it all started for 19 year old, Keith Adam, about three years ago.  Keith has a passion for buying and selling sneakers.  Not your every day Walmart sneaker, but instead very limited high demand sneakers like Kanye West’s “Yeezy”, and Jordan basketball shoes.  These shoes sell out instantly online and in store, and resell on the aftermarkets like Ebay, StockX, and other sites for sometimes up to 10 times the retail value of the shoe.  This business is very similar to those who flip real estate.  They typically buy the property for a low price, and end up selling it for a much higher price and earning profit.  This high profit margin makes reselling sneakers very appealing to young entrepreneurs.

Starting on Youtube

In 2016, Keith began his youtube journey at 16 years old.  He started producing videos with tips on how to get these limited shoes online and in store before they sell out.  His first videos did not immediately gain much popularity in views, and he rarely made any money on youtube.  After about a year making sneaker videos on youtube, Keith began to gain a following and produce interest in his channel.  His following was mostly marketed to other teenagers like him, who have a passion for sneakers, and wanted to find a way to make extra money from home.

Finding Ways to Innovate

About two years ago, Keith wanted to find a way to set himself apart from other sneakers Youtubers.  He started off using social media to promote himself and gain a bigger following from teenagers.  Keith did a lot of research to figure out a way that he could earn money outside of youtube.  This is where he discovered an app called “Discord.”  Discord is an app that is typically targeted toward video gamers.  It is a platform where groups can form and share ideas, create channels, and communicate through messages, video chat, and voice chat.  This was appealing to Keith, because it allowed him to charge his fans a monthly fee, similar to subscriptions like Netflix, in order to access his reselling information.  His focus was to continue using youtube and social media for small bits of information on reselling, but to focus on a paid subscription to Discord in order to gain full access to his content and reselling advice. He began offering his service through Discord for a small fee of $15 per month.  He used his social media and youtube channel to promote this new service, and it immediately sold out.  Keith was thrilled by the interest in his new Discord group, and from there, his career took off.

Keiths Success Today

Today, Keith continues to produce youtube videos and is active on social media, but his main focus is on Discord.  The interest in Keiths group has grown exponentially, which allows him to increase the price for his service.  Today, you can access Keiths Discord group for a steep monthly fee of $65.  Keith realized that in order to make his group stand out from other competing resellers, he has to produce the best information.  With this expensive monthly fee, Keith employs about a dozen “moderators” in his Discord group, who work around the clock finding out the best information regarding shoes.  These employees allow Keith the freedom to focus on other ways to improve, rather than having to solely work around the clock in order to help the thousands of his Discord subscribers through sneaker releases.  Keith continues to inspire many young teenagers to find a passion for sneakers and the hustle of reselling valuable sneakers.
